Dr. John Poovey founded JP Dental and Implant center twenty-two years ago. Upon his graduation from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2001, he was awarded AGD top student clinician in his class by Clinical Professors. In addition, he graduated Magna Cum Laude and has attained numerous accreditations in a variety of implant modalities over the course of his career. His accolades include both Masterships and Diplomate credentialing with the International Congress of Oral Implantology, Mastership with the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics, and most recently he was awarded an honorary Fellowship with the International Academy of Dental Facial Esthetics. The nomination was assigned by Dr. Joseph Massad, the nationally acclaimed master in prosthodontics after Dr. Massad developed a personal relationship while working with Dr. Poovey.
With a career in dentistry exceeding two-decades, Dr. John Poovey has placed and restored thousands of implants and hundreds of full arch cases both fixed and removable to performing bone grafts and sinus augmentations. Over the years, his focus shifted to the surgical side of dentistry, the culmination of which led to Dr. Poovey as well as JP Dental Implant Center were awarded the Nobel Center 4 Excellence for 2022 and 2023. The award emphasizes his surgical knowledge and the techniques. In addition, he has recently been selected by Zest Dental Solutions to be one of only 30 dentists in the nation to conduct beta analysis studies on a new restorative solution for the company. Dr. Poovey has been selected as a Key Opinion Leader to research, instruct and present on behalf of the company.
Through his accolades and extensive career, Dr. Poovey has become a recognized expert in the field of medical necessity based billing. Founding OraHe has since patented a proprietary software system and IP relating to systemization of coding that improves compliance and integration within dental practices. His unmatched ability in analyzing and reviewing patients as well as the inter-relationship of oral infection as it relates to exacerbating issues with underlying comorbidities, has had proven success in billing for oral surgery, and has been selected as a Key Opinion Leader and advisor for numerous companies.
Dr. Poovey has co-founded and works on a day-to-day basis with a new digital workflow platform called the Smile in One System. While the system is working through Beta Analysis stages for Both fixed and removable surgical/prosthodontic/lab workflow, its implementation will include a groundbreaking proprietary coating system which will reduce the plaque and bacterial adherence to abutments and prosthesis. His partner, Johnnie Orfanidis was actively involved in the development of Exocad and is well known in the lab and prosthodontic community.
Dr. Poovey’s philosophy is one of collaborative treatment. In working with referring doctors and helping them to provide solutions for complicated reconstructive cases with full arch/mouth reconstruction. He strives to be actively involved in assisting dentists as a resource and as a sounding board for both complicated treatment planning and especially when referring to dentists who want to provide the restorative solutions. His passion for education of improving oral health as it relates to improvements in patients overall well being spans the entirety of his career, and is the driving force behind his success in the field.
